Biography

Born in 1947 in a small village in the Loire. It was Barthes’ book "La Chambre Claire" which led me to photography. In 1995, a technical course with photographer Serge Picard then learning through work helped me gain more in-depth knowledge. Reporting bred encounters and enriched a personal quest, leading me to look at the daily life and traditions of African peoples, those in North Africa in particular. In 2002, I left my career behind me to devote myself exclusively to the images which are now increasingly focusing on work with the body. The body and its substance through movement and its sexual identity. How water, stone, earth... are made up. My evolving approach leads me to seek out what cannot be expressed materially where mystical elevation is concerned. Between shadow and light, life and death, body and substance.
